Abstract

The dog in the urban environment is a potential source for transmission of leptospirosis due to the close relationship established with humans. This article reviews on the canine leptospirosis addressing the core issues related to the etiological agent, pathogenesis, clinical, pathological, and epidemiological immunoprophylactic of disease. Canine leptospirosis presents with varied clinical polymorphism and should be considered by veterinarians in establishing the differential diagnosis of major infectious diseases that affect this species.
