Abstract

The brucellosis in canines is a zoonosis, as well as an important cause of reproductive faults. With the aim to investigate the occurrence of Brucella canis and Brucella abortus antibodies in the Uberlândia county and risk factors, 175 samples of serum canines were analysed. Tests to Brucella canis and Brucella abortus were realized by Agar Gel Immunodiffusion (AGID) and Buffered Acidified Antigen (BAA), respectively. From the samples reagent to BAA, tests were made confirming of 2-Mercaptoethanol (ME) and Serum Aglutination in Tubes (SAT). None of the dogs were reactive to Brucella canis and the occurrence to Brucella abortus was 1,71%. There was not statistical significant difference (p>0,05) to sex and age of dogs and risks factors association. These results demonstrated an occurrence of brucellosis from Brucella canis and Brucella abortus in Uberlandia, Minas Gerais State.
