Abstract

Knowing the amount of food ingested by an animal and how it absorbs nutrients is essential to make changes regarding food and animal's response, so the estimation of fecal output is one of the tools that assess the dry matter intake by ruminants, especially when considering the difficulties to determine it, in grazing animals. Therefore, this review seeks to compare the use of chromic oxide and LIPE ® as external markers to estimate digestibility of cattle.
