Alternative food from family farms as proposed in rations for Tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum Cuvier, 1818)

The objective of this study was to valorize the waste found in the ambit the family farming as proposed in diets for tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum). The search was performed in the Association of Producers and Rural Producers of Family Farming of the county of Tomé-Açu (APRAFAMTA), located in the community of Santa Luzia, Para State/Brazil. The methodological route consisted in utilization of a qualitative approach, based on exploratory and bibliographical research, in addition to technical visits to agricultural crop facilities and agroindustrial sector. For it, were used the methodological tools of Participatory Rural Diagnostic (PRD), as well as, the in site observations, interviews and transect walks. In the community, the main activities residues were found: acai, acerola, banana, cacao, cupuaçu, guava, mango, passion fruit and peach palm. Besides these, some families present the cultivation of rice, beans and cassava, with the use perspectives on nutrition of tambaquis. Therefore, considering the reduction of costs resulting from the use of alternative/complementary food for the species, so it is suggested the use of such waste in order to minimize the barriers for the price of commercial feed within the productive chain, as well as reduce the impacts from the inappropriate release into the environment.
