Seclusion and identification of microorganisms causing of otitis in dogs

Abstract

Otitis it is the inflammation of the ear canal and are caused by several factors, such as fungi, bacteria, mites and more. The study aimed to identify the major causative agent of ear diseases, as well as the occurrence of these with regard to race, age and sex of affected animals. During veterinary care samples were collected using "Awabs" sterile dogs with otitis clinic. The samples were sent to the Laboratory of Microbiology of the University's Rural Semi-arid UFERSA, where I made several biochemical tests and analysis of macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of the colonies. The main causative agents of otitis in dogs were Staphylococcus coagulase, followed by the yeast Malassezia pachydermatis. Dogs race SRD and males were the most affected, and that the media mainly affects adult dogs, with a relevant disease in the veterinary clinic.
