Abstract

Aiming to provide a histopathological basis for diagnostic support to the Inspection Service in liver disease in cattle, were studied, histopathologically, 148 samples of bovine livers from the North Fluminense. Who had nodular lesions with firm consistency. Microscopically the lesions were characterized by central necrosis, surrounded by rich mixed inflammatory infiltrate, whose constitution had fibrocalcific periphery. The mineralization was often linear, followed the arrangement of the fibrous capsule. Giant cells were commonly noted phagocytosing limestone fragments. Two cases were found remains of parasites, being only one of them identified as cestodes, the presence of calcareous corpuscles and windy, however, all cases showed typical aspects of migration of helminth larvae.
