Abstract

In order to study the correlation between the presence of foamy macrophages and photosensitization in cattle were investigated, histopathologically, 148 bovine livers slaughtered in the North Fluminense, who had a nodular, firm in consistency and color tone from white to slightly yellowish. Morphologically the lesions were very similar to other diseases, thus complicating the diagnosis during the sanitary inspection macroscopic post-mortem. Microscopically observed in eleven cases (7.43%) a concomitant injuries migration of helminth larvae in the presence of foamy macrophages, indicating the presence of photosensitization in these animals.
