Abstract

The swine production, characterized as a competitive and very dynamic activity, constantly generates efforts to improve productivity and reduce production costs. Within the activity, the nursery sector is seen as one of the most important phase and that causes most concern, because at this stage many factors as, separation of mother and change in diet cause behavioral and physical changes that impair the performance of animals. Among the methods used to correct nutritional deficiencies, and improve immune and digestive capacity of animals is the use of food additives among them are the glutamine and sources of nucleotides. Thus, the objective of this review was to discuss the benefits of adding glutamine and nucleotides in the diet of pigs in the nursery.
