Abstract

The orthopedics of birds in veterinary medicine is a promising area, especially for preservation of the Brazilian fauna. The early recovery and rehabilitation in their natural habitat are the main objectives, ensuring that remain for a longer period of time in captivity. The fractures are usually due to trauma in the wings and pelvic limbs. May also be due to a lead toxicosis, neuropathy and nutritional deficiencies. There are different methods to repair fractures as, bandages, devices modified Kirschner-Ehmer, intramedullary pins, plates of bone cement and screws. Deformations in the skeleton after reduction of fractures related to the absence of repair may hinder or impede flight.
