Abstract

The knowledge of the rumen metabolism is important as it may influence the use of food given to the animal, therefore, the performance in animal production. Thus the type of food may cause different performance, efficiency can be increased, as well as avoid possible poisoning, or dysfunctions in animals. The use of non-protein nitrogen, usually used,  worthless, serving as a substrate for microbial protein synthesis. For better use of the protein is necessary synchronization of the protein with energy, preventing  the protein is degraded providing energy that is in deficit. Aimed to report a simplified ruminal metabolism, with respect to pH, NH3-N, the microbial growth and efficiency, using data from recent research.
