The meat inspection is carried out in countries around the world. It is extremely important to control diseases that cause loss of production and productivity to the national livestock and pose risks to human health, such as mastitis or mastitis, which can cause sepsis and result in a condemnation of the carcass slaughtered. The objective was to make a survey of mastitis in cattle carcasses slaughtered in the states of Goias, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais and São Paulo subject to the control of the Federal Inspection Service in the period 2006 to 2009, and detect the number of cases in each municipality. Through the post-mortem examination the mammary glands were removed intact and the diagnosis was made through its macroscopic view. We conclude that a total of 268,703 animals slaughtered only 57 had findings of mastitis, which represents 0, 021% and that mastitis is a disease that affects more cattle for milk production than meat production.
