Abstract

Fifty eight native spotted catfish specimen (Pseudoplatystoma corruscans) from São Francisco River were screened with four microsatellites markers. The analysis was conducted in two groups sampled in two different seasons in same collecting site. The following genetic patterns were studied: Fst, genetic similarity and genetic distance. These results were discussed with the aim to contribute to capture efforts to establish cultured stocks for aquaculture purposes. Time analysis showed no differences between the studied groups. Strategies for recruitment approaches are suggested.
