Abstract

The Northeast of Brazil is the region where the Goat farming was more developed, serving as one of the promising activities to be explored, due to high rusticity emitted for the existing animals, that are selected by the proper climatic conditions and of vegetation. However the existing level of technology and the parasitism, serve of barrier that make it difficult these creations. Thus, a study was carried through epidemiology in 12 properties of the city of Afonso Bezerra (5º29'52''S and 36º30'21''W), Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil), located in the micro region of Angicos, with goats, without defined racial standard, through the application of questionnaires, with the analysis of the data carried through by the direct simple frequency. In the sanitary aspects, it was verified that the vermifuge is practiced per 100% of the creators, where 33,3% make the application five times or more per year, 25% four, and 41,7% two. In relation to the parasitology of excrement, only 8,3% of the creators carry through the examination routinely, with the ivermectina being the main active used in 75% of the properties. The system of predominant creation in the critical period is half-intensive (100%), having as the number one objective, the milk exploration. In the present work it can be evaluated the sanitary situation and the zootécnicals characteristics of goat flocks in properties in the region of Afonso Bezerra. Thou we conclude that the adopted handling is the great aggravation factor that provides a fall in the productivity and, consequently, fails in the financial return to the creator.
