Abstract

Maternal care in childhood is the main source of stimuli for the development, growth and protection of adaptive responses to stressors. The presence of maternal deprivation can break this protection early in life. We look with this study describing the development of the pups during the experiment of maternal separation. The pups of rats were isolated daily from the mother's care for three hours. The main result was that puppies who suffered maternal separation showed a lower growth compared with control pups. We can conclude that stress during childhood may influence the development and cause emotional pathophysiologies in the adult animal.
