Abstract

The hyperadrenocorticism (HAC) or Cushing's disease is manifested by exposure to excess glucocorticoids, whether of spontaneous origin (pituitary or corticotropin) or iatrogenic. A poodle of 8 years and 10 kg, polyuria, and polyphagia polidipicia presents the skin with pustules, crusts, and regions of very keratinization and pigmentation. In addition it presents the abdomen and bulging and the hock open. The urine test showed low density and take ultrasound revealed a bilateral enlargement of adrenal glands, these signs suggestive of HAC pituitary. The treatment is costly because it requires monitoring by laboratory tests and the drug of choice is costly. This case met the owner chose not to commence the treatment.
