Abstract

Several neurological diseases affect dogs and cats as a result of compressive, inflammatory, infectious, neurotoxic, neoplastic, vascular, nutritional, or traumatic pathologies. Depending on the etiology of the lesion, the treatment can be medical, surgical, or both. In many cases, diagnosis depends on the precise location of the injury. Cerebral angiography is an additional method for diagnosis neurological diseases that uses the effects of arterial contrasts in radiographs. In this study, we carried out a review of studies involving the use of this technique, explaining his way of creating and main applications in clinical and experimental cases. Cerebral angiography in small animals, performed by means of conventional radiography, provides to be an additional examination technically safe and effective in checking the blood supply to brain of animals under normal clinical conditions, and is a viable technique to deploy routine clinical and surgical veterinary medicine.
