Abstract

The aim of study was describe the aortic arc branch of Saruê (Didelphis marsupualis), establishing a pattern model and its main variations in this specie. Fifteen animals, adult (8 females and 7 males) from the Zoológico de Brasília, Fundação Polo Ecológico de Brasília, DF, were used. After natural death, the left common carotid artery vessels were injected by Neoprene latex 450, stained by a specific pigment. The animals were fixed in a 10% formalin solution by immersion and dissected. The aortic arc of saruê originates the brachiocephalic trunk and the left subclavian artery. The brachiocephalic trunck itself originates the right subclavian artery and the bicarotid trunk, which originates the left and right carotid common arteries.
