Abstract

In addressing the problem of anthelmintic resistance this study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of mixing oxygen - ozone as an alternative treatment in feces of sheep and goats in the inhibition of hatching and growth of the largest possible number of eggs and larvae. The counting of eggs using the House of Mc Master and count larvae by Baermann method in 29 sheep and 21 goats. Thereafter, each stool sample was divided into copro / control and stool culture after treatment with ozone (O3). Completed seven days, there was the Baermann method, with the two parts of each sample and examined under an optical microscope, observing and comparing, if there was a reduction in the number of larvae between the control group and subjected to treatment with ozone. To verify the effectiveness of treatment with ozone in the reduction of larvae was used to test two means involving the normal distribution at a significance level of 5%. According to the results, although with a reduction of larvae using the treatment with ozone in the positive samples from sheep and goats has been a non-significant reduction (p> 0.05) in both species when applied to the test of two means the normal distribution at a significance level of 5%. Perhaps increasing the dosage of ozone could check more efficacy.
