Abstract

The rapid immunochromatographic test IT-LEISHÒ (DiaMed IT-LEISHÒ) using recombinant antigen K39 (rK39) was performed on serum samples from dog’s suspected endemic area. The test performance was compared to the indirect immunofluorescence, imunoemzimatic the reaction, using soluble antigen of Leishmania chagasi, and the direct agglutination test. The study included 58 animals with clinical symptoms suggestive for LV. Of these 68.9% (40) were male and 31.0% (18) females. The age of animals ranged from six months to five years. Of a total of animals with diagnosis confirmed by IFAT, the rapid test was positive in 24.1%.
