Abstract

The rapid return of ovarian activity after calving is of fundamental importance for dairy cows. In the peripartum period, these animals lose weight, however this excess weight loss after calving is related to the delayed occurrence of the first ovulation. Thus, nutrition is directly related to reproductive efficiency and utilization of fat in the diet of these animals with improvement in energy intake with indirect reflections on reproductive efficiency of the flock. Rich sources of fat into polyunsaturated fatty acids of influence the metabolism of some reproductive hormones essential for reproduction.
