Abstract

Different techniques allow a satisfactory diagnosis of blood pressure parameter in dogs. The aim of this study was to evaluate the blood pressure of dogs with two methods of measurement. The animals used were from routine care, regardless of the reason, a veterinary clinic in the city of Manaus. These were led to a separate room so they could stay between 10 to 15 minutes at rest until the beginning of the measurements. An aneroid sphygmomanometer and appropriate to the size of the animal associated with Doppler auscultation and a digital instrument, both for human use cuff was used. 49 animals were evaluated, 34 males and 15 females, 26 and 23 animals without defined race with one of the established breeds. Of the total, 43 animals showed blood pressure values within the average parameters expected to dogs as different authors. Only seven subjects had the changed parameter. The results were within normal limits and there was no significant difference between the results obtained by means of analog and digital devices, which may serve to support the measurement of blood pressure more quickly and easily when needed in veterinary clinical routine latter.
