Abstract

When rich concentrated diets are supplied in milk cattle, the rate of synthesis of milk fat can be reduced in 50% or more. In addition, many other dietary manipulations, including fat dietary that they are active in the rumen, forages with small particle size, new pastures and ionophores, result in several degrees of reduction of the production of fat on milk. Recent studies show new evidences for the specific effect of the fatty acid trans in the development of the milk fat depression syndrome. In this work were characterize and to discuss some aspects and theories related to the occurrence of the milk fat depression syndrome in lactation cows.
