Abstract

Visceral canine leishmaniasis is a zoonosis that has great repercussions on animal and human health, whose etiologic agents are the protozoa of the genus Leishmania sp. The objective of the study is to carry out a review on the important aspects of the disease, such as etiologic agent, transmission and pathogenesis, clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control, to add information in the context of small animal medical clinic.
