Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of bovine mastitis in dairy herds in the municipality of Rolim de Moura and adjacencies located in the state of Rondônia, Brazil. The samples were collected directly in the breast rooms of the cows, totaling 608 animals, being distributed in 28 dairy farms. The screened Mug test (TCT) was performed for the diagnosis of clinical mastitis and the California mastitis Test (CMT) for the detection of subclinical mastitis. In the analyses, there were 0.99% (6/608) animals that presented clinical mastitis and 20.56% (125/608) with subclinical mastitis. The results obtained allowed us to conclude that Mastitis was diagnosed in almost all herds surveyed, however the number of affected animals was relatively low. It is necessary to adopt hygienic-sanitary and management measures to improve production rates and provide greater food security.
