Productivity and quality of milk from Holstein cows fed with DBR SACCH probiotic concentrate powder

The use of probiotics as additives to improve animal performance has increased considerably. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of DBR SACCH Probiotic Concentrate on the productivity and quality of milk from dairy cows. The experiment was carried out on private property in the municipality of Regente Feijó/SP (Brazil). Eighteen lactating Holstein and Girolando cows weighing 480 kg on average were used. The property's production system is in confinement, with the use of rest paddocks with a feeding trough, drinking fountain and shade. The daily production of the animals was evaluated individually, divided into batches at the beginning, middle and end of lactation, depending on the collections carried out (7 collections) and 6 cows (repetitions), as well as the quality of the milk in the cooling tank for all the herd. These were evaluated in percentages, before and after using the Product. Relations between collections were not evaluated. For the batch at the beginning and middle of lactation, there was an increase in daily production with the use of the probiotic. For the batch at the end of lactation, the benefit of the product was maintaining production for longer. The use of the product was not significant for the variations of fat, protein, lactose and non-defatted extractive. Regarding the somatic cell count (SCC), it considerably decreased the SCC in the cooling tank. The use of DBR SACCH probiotic concentrate for bovines improved milk production values of SCC in the cooling tank.
