Abstract

Entropion is the inversion of the eyelid in one or both eyelid margins, affecting mainly dogs of breed Chow Chow and Shar Pei. It is divided into classes according to their origin. The eyelids are thin projections that covers your eyes and merge the 32 days of uterine life, separating it from 10 to 14 days after the birth. Clinical signs characteristic involve inversion of the eyelids, purulent secretions, itching in the affected area, corneal ulceration and in severe cases can occur rupture of the eyeball. The diagnosis is clinical, based on findings of history and ophthalmic examination. The choice of the technique of treatment depends on such factors as the severity and position of the abnormality of the eyelid. In cases of congenital entropion and acquired, the more surgical intervention is indicated, as the technique of Hotz-Celsus, which is the skin muscle resection, with the possible complications and the excessive correction or subcorrection.
