Abstract

The anal gland is a modified sebaceous gland that occurs only in dogs, which may develop neoplasia as adenomas and adenocarcinomas. This work represents a survey of neoplasms of this gland in order to examine the types , the development during the study period, sex, age and race more predisposed. It was found that the number of diagnoses of neoplasia of the anal glands increased during the study period, all dogs were male, crossbred animals were most affected. The mean age was 10 years. However, an animal of two years was diagnosed adenocarcinoma. The number of cases of adenomas was 15(62.5%) and adenocarcinoma 9(37.5%). The knowledge of this tumor, and its diagnosis is of fundamental importance to achievement of potential prognostic and treatments.
