Abstract

The transmissible venereal tumor (TVT) is a round cell neoplasm of mesenchymal, contagious that attacks the external genital mucosa of dogs. The transmission occurs by implantation of neoplasm cells during sexual contact, fights and interaction between bearing and susceptible animals. Metastasis rarely occurs. The diagnostic is based on the animal’s history and clinical examination and is confirmed by biopsy and/or cytological exam. The cytological exam is a fast, reliable method and of low cost for the illnesses neoplasics majority diagnosis in the animals. TVT is a sensitive neoplasia to the chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and among these treatment modalities, the chemotherapy is accepted as more effective. Vincristina sulfate managed once a week, it is extremely effective, has potential short of toxicity and satisfactory cost.
