Abstract

The mammary glands are the sites most affected by cancer in female dogs and is rare in those younger than 2 years of age. The female dogs usually have 5 pairs of mammary glands, however, the cats have 4 pairs. Data such as age, reproductive history, presence of swelling of the breasts and regional lymph nodes, act as the basis for the diagnosis of breast cancer. To define a treatment option should consider the stage where the tumor is between them is possible to choose between surgical excision, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or even combine the treatments, but surgery is the treatment of choice for neoplasms breast.
