Abstract

Otitis externa is an inflammation of the lining of the external auditory canal, caused by primary factors, predisposing and / or perpetuating. Initial clinical signs are related to itching. Medical history and otoscopic examination of each ear are fundamental for reaching the diagnosis of otitis externa. The treatment can be clinical, making use of ceruminolytics and topical medications or when it is not responsive, with surgical procedure like Zepp, ablation of the vertical channel or total ear canal ablation.
