Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of four different protocols of acaricides on engorged females of Boophilus microplus, from the Experimental Farm of Glory, region of Uberlândia, MG, Brazil. Two hundred engorged ticks, with size above 8 mm, were collected from naturally infected cattle that were at least 30 days without any parasiticide treatment. Arthropods were subjected to in vitro protocols containing the following active ingredients: pyrethroid; amidine; organophosphate + pyrethroid and herbal medicine. It was observed that the association of organophosphate + pyrethroid and the herbal medicine showed efficacy of 100% in the treatment against Boophilus microplus. Regarding the group treated with pyrethroid isolated and amidine, we obtained unsatisfactory performance of 89,9 % and 87,7 % respectively.
