Abstract

Neospora caninum is a protozoan that was recognized in dogs in 1984, it is neurological illness which was diagnosed in dog pups, which had myositis and parturient of members. Free parasites were found in the brain and muscles of the dogs, and encysted in the brain, which is the Toxoplasma gondii resembled, however, the serological tests carried out were negative for the same. Shortly afterwards, became the analyze cuts histological dogs killed in 1984, where he was identified a new genre Neospora, and new species Neospora caninum. The determination based by clinical signs which were related to parturient and paralysis of members which are not deliveries practice may be observed in toxoplasmosis. As well as playing the cyst wall thickness N. caninum is less thin that T. gondii.
