Abstract

In this paper we report two cases of infestation by Oestrus ovis in sheep Santa Ines, from a herd of 70 animals in extensive breeding in the town of Araxá-MG. The animals were sent to the Veterinary Hospital of Uberaba be occurring by a high mortality rate of the herd after onset of severe nasal discharge, anorexia and weight loss. On clinical examination the animals showed signs of respiratory disease. After the clinical examination it was decided to perform euthanasia of the animal with a worse clinical condition. At necropsy were observed larvae of O. ovis in the sinuses of the animal. It was prescribed treatment with ivermectin for herd ( 200 mg / kg SC ) , associated with oxytetracycline (20 mg/ kg IM ), which was effective the second owner.
