Abstract

The wild felines have a wide geographical distribution, but many species are threatened with extinction, which motivates the preservation of these animals in free areas and in some cases maintenance in captivity. When kept in captivity they are under artificial behaviors, where the stress and anxiety are compounded by inadequate management, so they became vulnerable to the development of obsessive-compulsive disorder, which can lead to serious injury to the animal as an example the persecution of the tail followed by mutilation. This paper aims at report a case of behavioral disturb in exotic wild feline, leopard (Panthera pardus), which evolved into the mutilation of the tail, requiring surgery correction.
