Abstract

Bovine cysticercosis and tuberculosis symptoms do not manifest immediately, and the farmer only account of these diseases, when there are economic losses and disposal of the animal. The objective of this study to perform surveys of cysticercosis and tuberculosis in cattle carcasses slaughtered in an exporter fridge in Campina Verde-MG, quantifying the incidence of these zoonoses in municipalities suppliers. The data provided in this study were obtained from the analysis of documents provided by the staff of the Federal Inspection Service-SIF, with the Minerva Group, in Campina Verde, MG during the period january to june 2013. Was shot down during this period a total of 72 434 cattle from 57 municipalities of Minas Gerais, being diagnosed 1.533 cases of cysticercosis, 74 cases of tuberculosis. Ten counties had a higher number of animals for slaughter, this time with apparent prevalence of cysticercosis ranging from 2.05% to 5.06%. In 20 of the 57 municipalities analyzed, bovine tuberculosis was detected. Since the highest incidence of the disease was in cities: Campina Verde with 12 cases, Itapagipe with 13 cases, Patrocínio and Prata in 7 cases. The results show that the knowledge of these diseases in a given region helps in controlling, preventing and guidance to farmers to eradicate these zoonoses.
