Abstract

Based on the premise that the use and occupation of land can contribute to variations in the quality of groundwater. The objective of this research was to analyze the quality of shallow groundwater in the watershed that surrounds the neighborhoods: Chinfura, Vila Nova and 7 de Setembro – Chimoio City. Initially, 15 wells were selected to collect water samples and five (5) physical, chemical and microbiological parameters (Turbidity, Electrical conductivity, pH, nitrites and fecal coliforms) were analyzed. And finally, thematic maps were drawn up, of spatial representation of the isovalores. The results obtained revealed that of the 15 wells, only two of them (well 1 and well 5) were the ones that presented samples of good quality water, that is, those that meet the main basic requirements for drinking according to Mozambican legislation. In relation to the interview, it was highlighted that 40% of the population in the three neighborhoods still depend exclusively on water from the wells as a daily source of supply and 67% of families have already registered cases of waterborne diseases.
