Abstract

We report the case of a 3-month-old dog that presented bilateral hyperextension of the tibiotarsi joint. The alteration has been observed from 2 months of age by tutors, who have conservative searched for treatment 1 month later. Based on the physical examination and anamnesis, treatment was stablished aiming analgesic effects and muscle strengthening by physiotherapy, in addition to the immediate use of orthotics (Ortocane®) to stabilize the tarsal joint. The patient had recovery of the anatomical position of the left pelvic limb after 3 months of treatment in addition to daily walks with his tutors. After 3 months without physical therapy, the patient returned to the clinic, as he was not supporting the left pelvic limb. After returning to the physiotherapy sessions, and using the orthosis 6 hours a day, the patient recovered normal ambulation.
