Abstract

The nutritional management for dogs and cats with nephropathic restrictions, relieves the symptoms, reduces the progression of the disease and helps improves nutritional corroborating to a better quality of life. In this context, the present study aimed to evaluate the literature the nutritional management of dogs and cats nephropathic. Currently treatment is conservative and aims to correct or minimize water, electrolyte disturbances. The treatment promotes healing, but prevents the spread of the disease, reducing the damage of renal disease in the body of the animal, in order to promote a better quality of life and prolonging the patient's life. According to the studies evaluated, nephropathy is considered a disease of large importance for being progressive and irreversible, therefore has an unfavourable opinion. The proper nutrition is a significant factor to decrease the progression of the disease, provides a longer life, in addition to improving the quality of life for dogs and cats. However, the diet should be formulated individually and according to the condition of each animal. Despite advances in nutrition, studies are still scarce regarding an ideal diet for the nefropatas animals.
