Abstract

A risk area investigation for canine visceral leishmaniasis was carried out in the municipality of Itapevi, São Paulo. A total of 104 dogs distributed in 30 residences, being performed blood collection, rapid test and serology for canine visceral leishmaniasis, performed the parasitological examination of lymph node aspirate in the serum reactive animals. Seroprevalence was 15.38% (16/104) including the two index cases used as indicative to delimit the area of the serological survey.
