Abstract

The objective of this study is to demonstrate the effectiveness of using a single synthetic implant for reconstruction of the cranial and caudal cruciate ligament in a cat. Stifle joint was surgically stabilized by an intracapsular technique, using a polyester thread No. 5 fixing its central portion to the femur and redirecting the ends to opposite sides of the tibia. The proposed technique has shown rapid implementation and low soft tissue dissection, early return to ambulation, stability to the implant fixation points, resulting in the absence of cranial and caudal movement of the tibia in relation to the femur.
