Abstract

Pythiosis constitutes a chronic pyogranulomatous infection that affects the gastrointestinal tract or the skin, caused by the waterborne pathogen Pythium insidiosum. This literature review explores the potential of abdominal ultrasonographic screening, encompassing the stomach, duodenum, jejunum and colon, as a diagnostic aid for gastrointestinal pythiosis in dogs. It also highlights the key findings observed in patients affected by the disease.
