Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease that affects chickens and is caused by protozoa of the genus Eimeria. This disease is highly prevalent in poultry farming and can cause significant economic losses due to its morbidity and mortality. The protozoan that causes coccidiosis inhabits the intestinal tract of chickens and reproduces in the epithelial cells, causing damage and lesions to the intestinal wall, which can cause high losses, severe impact on zootechnical performance, and can lead to susceptibility to other infections. Our objective was to report a clinical case of coccidiosis in an integration of broiler chickens with reported loss of flock performance starting at 28 days of age. In the report, necroscopic examination was chosen as the diagnostic method, finding changes and lesions in the intestinal mucosa that are very characteristic of Eimeria spp. As a curative treatment, bacitracin was used at 28 days and an anticoccidial drug based on sulfaquinoxaline was administered at 32 days. After the use of the anticoccidial, the birds recovered their weight gain rates. However, Eimeria acervulina spots were still observed in the birds' small intestines. It was concluded that prophylactic measures, including hygiene with ammonia-based products, adequate litter management between cycles and the judicious implementation of anticoccidial programs, as well as vaccination, are of great importance in the control of coccidiosis in industrial poultry farming.
