Abstract

Rabies is an infectious disease caused by the Lyssavirus virus, and this zoonosis is a unique health problem, which is considered an aerial and terrestrial disease, being a neglected disease with worldwide distribution. The current national programs aim to control the pathology, through the immunization of domestic animals, and for humans, the pre- and post-exposure protocol is recommended. Thus, this work aims to detail the epidemiological aspects of rabies through a study of strategy, epidemiology, transmission, clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment, control and prophylaxis of the disease.
