Abstract

During the evolution, the equines dentition modified, remaining a without function tooth, called tooth wolf or lupino, which does not participate of the chew and generates certain discomfort for the animal. In order to observe the exteriorization of the lupino tooth in equines of the  mangalarga marchador race, had been used sixty (60) animal ones, being thirty and one (31) female and twenty and nine (29) male ones of farm Zandonaide, in the city of Sacramento, Minas Gerais, beyond the aid of two employees of farm being one to open the mouth of the animal with the use of pipe, and another one for the displacement of the language in order to facilitate the visualization. The related tooth was found in six (6) male specimens (10%) and three (3) specimens female, both in the superior arches, being bilateral in two cases, three laterals right and four laterals left.
