Abstract

The silage is a technique for preserving forage widely used in the Brazilian cattle industry to produce quality food and animal feeding, especially during dry season. Corn silage has distinguished itself as one of the crops most commonly used and is considered a prime food because their nutritional value. Displays content of crude protein (CP) and Total Digestible Nutrients (TDN) around 6.5 to 8.5 and 60-65% respectively. The productivity of this crop usually is between 30-35 tons of green matter (VM) per hectare can be achieved up to 45 tonnes of green matter per hectare. Furthermore the elephant grass to produce 150 tons of natural material per hectare in 4-5 cuts per year, but their nutritional value is lower, with crude protein and TDN between 4-5% and 50-55% respectively.
