Biotechnology in the breeding of goats

Abstract

Technological advances for their impact on various segments increased livestock production, and reproductive biotechnology and breeding have direct intervention in getting more animals high quality. As biotechnologies of reproduction are fundamental in increasing the profitability of agribusiness small ruminants, with artificial insemination and embryo transfer are technologies that provide the maximization of reproductive potential of breeding and arrays of high value livestock. It is noteworthy, though, the great contribution of cryopreserved germplasm facilitating national and international exchange of genetic material, in addition to the preservation of native breeds. But the use of reproductive technologies should be well evaluated for its cost effectiveness, within each type of operation, terms of structure and organization of property and be mindful of health and nutrition of the herd, which are preconditions for the deployment of these biotechnologies .
