Abstract

Mastitis is a disease of the mammary gland, which is characterized by inflammatory, often due to the presence of infectious microorganisms, interfering directly in organ function, since a cow with mastitis has its productivity decreased milk , reaching the level of loss between 15 and 20% compared to normal milk production. The mastitis also interfere with the quality of milk, observing lower levels of sugars, proteins and minerals such as lactose, casein, fat, calcium, phosphorus and a significant increase of immunoglobulins, sodium chloride and lipases, remaining milk and unable to be consumed used for the manufacture of derivatives such as yogurt, cheese etc.. without considering the damage caused by condemnation of milk on the platform of the plant.
