The Macrorhabdus ornithogaster, agent of megabacteriosis, of yeast form, is frequently encountered in the normal flora of the stomach of birds (pro-ventricle). Under nonspecific circumstances, the balance host-fungus is broken, and the so- called "Going Light Syndrome" clinical signs are manifested. The M. ornithogaster agent has been subject of the laboratorial diagnoses as a disease cause in a wide diversity of avian species presenting a large variation range in morbidity and mortality.
