Abstract

The high cost of production of livestock grazing has been a major factor in the decline in productivity over the years especially in arid regions that suffer from long periods of drought. Therefore, it has been considering alternative foods in order to lower costs without compromising the quality of feed. The availability and quality of these materials are highly variable depending on the level of industrialization and in accordance with the characteristics of each region. Citrus pulp is a waste of the industry that produces orange juice, used in the diets of ruminants such as energy component, mainly in substitution of corn. The objective of this review will evaluate the nutritive value of citrus pulp as well as its use in ruminant feed.
