Abstract

Folliculitis furunculosis is a deep pyoderma affected commonly by Staphylococcus pseudointermedius. It is a disease characterized in purebred and crossbred dogs Shepherds and other herding breeds like Dalmatians and Bull Terriers. The cause of infection can’t be defined; it is believed that there is a genetic predisposition and an immunodeficiency T-lymphocyte cell that often aggravates factors linked to worsen the picture. The diagnosis is based on physical examination, history, race, age of the animal, as well as findings of cytology and histopathology. For treating the case, it is necessary the use of antimicrobials and anti-inflammatory drugs, associated with topical therapy. The study reports the changes found and the therapeutic protocol of a disorder identified in an animal breed Pit Bull, which is consistent with changes in a worldwide characterization folliculitis furunculosis in German Shepherd breed.
